FDA Finally Admits Over 70% of U.S. Chickens Contain Cancer-Causing Arsenic!!
As if we didn’t already know what they have long denied, my question or rather thought however is; How many more other countries lace their poultry/food with all sorts of harzadous chemicals that are lethal to the body?!!
I remember reading an article in 2001 that Many ignored due to our stupid ignorance or decision to purposely turn a blind eye, which by the way is no excuse.
The Food Standards Agency at that time issued an alert about several imported Chinese soy sauce products which were above recommended safety levels for the chemical 3-MCPD, but it had also emerged that a large number of other processed foods, made and sold in Britain, are above the same limit.
So what is 3-MCPD?
“3-MCPD or (3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol or 3-chloropropane-1,2-diol) is an organic chemical compound which is carcinogenic and highly suspected to be genotoxic in humans, has male anti-fertility effects, and is a chemical byproduct which may be formed in foods, the most commonly found member of chemical contaminants known as chloropropanols.
It is primarily created in foods by protein hydrolysis by adding hydrochloric acid to speed up the reaction of the (soy) protein with lipids at high temperatures. Another method 3-MCPD can also occur in foods which have been in contact with materials containing epichlorohydrin-based wet-strength resins – used in the production of some tea bags and sausage casings.
It has been found in some East Asian and Southeast Asian sauces such as oyster sauce, Hoisin sauce and soy sauce. Using hydrochloric acid rather than traditional slow fermentation is a far cheaper and faster method but unavoidably creates carcinogens.” (Wiki)
I once read a comment somewhere along the lines of, “what’s with the fuss about food, I’m sure we are all going to die one day. So what if they put chemicals in our food”
Yes we are all going to die one day indeed. I don’t know about you but I for one, personally want to be able to choose good, healthy food and make informed decisions about products on the store shelf…. Than to be forced to buy something that is falsely labelled and therefore forcefully consuming things I normally wouldn’t against my right and will.
When I see things like these happening, this is why I most times than not boycott mega stores and prefer to support honest and hardworking local farmers who provide quality organic food. When you do the math, the difference in price is not that different from non organic food.
Mom not here to tell you what to eat but to simply enlighten you to stop and think about your purchases a bit more.
